PLANTAR FASCIITIS

Plantar fasciitis is an injury to the tissue that connects the toes to the heel bone. This thick tissue band runs across the bottom of the foot, and it can become highly inflamed and swollen, resulting in plantar fasciitis. Plantar fasciitis is one of the most common causes of heel pain today. Plantar fasciitis feels like a stabbing pain in the heel. It is typically most painful in the morning, during the first step or two after getting out of bed. The pain will then usually recede as the day goes on. The pain then returns after a period of rest or a period of sitting down. Usually, plantar fasciitis is only felt on one foot, but some people experience plantar fasciitis on both feet.

TREATMENT FOR PLANTAR FASCIITIS

The chiropractic treatment for plantar fasciitis is usually a combination approach. Dr. Cozzocrea may recommend a blend of physical therapy techniques, shock wave therapy, and other chiropractic modalities to put patients on the road to recovery. However, with early intervention, he can usually help the patient achieve pain relief in a natural and non-invasive manner.

Extremity adjustment is a procedure to correct misalignments in the feet, shoulders, knees, and more. Even though the pain may be in the spine, it can be caused by the feet or other structures in the extremities. Dr. Dennis has extensive training and is a certified extremities practitioner. This means he did an extra year of training on areas of the body that do not have to do with the spine. A large portion of that would be in the foot. He will look at how you are walking and decide how to correct that. He does not use expensive orthotics that often are more painful than the condition they are supposed to treat. Dr. Dennis developed a special taping method called slipper tape. This is applied at the beginning of the treatment of care. Most patients have immediate relief with the slipper tape in place. This also works to rehab the foot and correct the mechanical problems in the foot.
